How to Paint a Bright Summer Tote

June 17, 2009

Here is a fun tote I made today with a passel of kiddos.  This is my example.  They really had a good time with it.

A plain $2.00 grocery tote.

Plain tote

SoSoft fabric paint, sponge brushes and Squibbles paints in regular and puffy.

Fabric paint

I used two foam brushes, one wide and the other more narrow to make rectangles, lines and wider swatches.  You can plan it out to be rather regular or do what I did and just paint as the mood hits you.

Let dry

Embellish with Swirls, dots, squiggles and squares using the bottles of Squiggles.

Finished tote

Let dry throughly and then heat set in the dryer for about 10 minutes.
