Yup, it’s true. We are going to Disney World.
Just the two of us. Hubs and myself. And I have to tell you, we are pretty excited.
Some of our kids went on “SENIOR TRIPS” right after graduating from high school.
Honestly, hubs didn’t “get it”. He never had a “Senior Trip”. But then, he had to walk two miles to school, in the snow, uphill – both ways. Seriously.
So anyway, I’m calling this our Empty Nest trip.
Hubs said yesterday that it was OUR Senior Trip. I beg your pardon, sir! No, we’ll have a senior trip later… when we are closer to being Senior Citizens.
I’ve been doing a lot of research about going to Disney World and even going to Disney World as Empty Nester’s. I found a website here that has some information. And this Empty Nest Touringtwo-part series. There are oodles of sites that have information for parents with children (of course) and also a few websites that have reviews of park visits by empty nesters – mostly complaining about screaming children. There seems to be a little Disney “sub-culture” of empty nesters that I’m interested in scoping out. I wonder if there will really be that many empty nest couples there?
I found one website, touringplan.com that will sell me a touring plan so that I can visit the most attractions with the least amount of waiting in line time. I’m actually thinking of signing up for that one! I’ll keep you posted on that one.
I haven’t been to Disney World since sometime around 6th grade and while all of our kids have gone, we weren’t the parents who took them (It’s that blended family thing). Besides, the fact that we are just looking forward to getting out of Dodge for a few days.
Now to find something to keep me occupied during 34+ hours of riding in the van. UGH!
