Miniatures in a Shadow Box – A Collection on the Wall

April 27, 2010

Are you getting the idea that when I start playing with a new product I craft with it until I run low on ideas?

Problem is… there is never an end of ideas. Whatever it is I’m exploring will go away for a while but it almost always comes back. 🙂  And I can’t help myself… I love crafting with these darling miniatures.  The detail on some of the items is amazing!

This shadow box I made for the kitchen.  I was actually in a thrift store the other day (“No, Really?) and saw a little shadow box similar to this with miniatures in it.  The miniatures were larger and the whole thing was very ’70’s looking.  I like mine better. 🙂

The shadow box I used has a slide on acrylic cover which is really nice for the kitchen.  Easier to keep clean!

I painted it with Folk Art Stains in Cherry.

I used craft tweezers to place some of the smaller items where I wanted them (some of those spaces are really SMALL!) and I used hot glue to adhere the items but there are several glues that would work just fine.

Isn’t the little birthday cake adorable?  It’s really fun to imagine little stories about each vignette as you assemble them.  That top left section I was imagining having my own little bakery, and the one with vegetables… I was thinking about the farmer’s market at the end of summer. The ham, wine and clock made me think of fancy holiday gatherings.  And don’t you just LOVE the tea set in the upper right hand side?  The detail! I used that same tea set in my “Little’s Have a Picnic” scene.

Stay tuned… you KNOW the miniatures will be back again. 🙂
