Summers End Family Tie Dye Party

THIS photo & the most epic of family dinners happened at our house last night…

Summer's End Family Tie Dye Party

I wrote in this post: Tie Dye Your Summer about how I would be doing several Tulip One-Step Tie Dye demos at local Hobby Lobby stores during July and August.

I did FOUR demos and everyone had a great time.

But I had the one sample kit for my table left over and I wasn’t quite sure what I would do with it.

I’ve been purging things from my studio, and while I didn’t necessarily want to keep it, I also didn’t want to get rid of it either.

So I decided to USE IT UP and have some end of summer fun with my family during a couple of our family dinners.

I sent out text messages to all of the kids telling them to bring one or two 100% cotton t-shirts and we would do some fun tie dye before dinner.

Everyone had a good time coming up with new color combos and folding patterns to create their t-shirts with.

I sent them all home (with laundering instructions) and asked them to return for the next family dinner ready for photos.

So I put Warren in charge of taking photos while I got dinner going.

It was a little gloomy and overcast but you’d never know it by the laughter that was coming from the back yard.

Do you like Shane, Ryan and Marcy’s super model looks?

Somehow Shane even managed to find himself in a tree for a few of the photos.

LeAnn was late to the game because she had to work but I managed to catch a photo in the kitchen.

We had old Motown tunes playing loudly as we cooked, served and cleaned up. There was much singing, dancing and silliness.

To crank the craziness up even more we played Catch Phrase after dinner. Have you ever played it? It is HILARIOUS. Especially with THIS crowd.

I think it was probably one of the most fun family dinners we’ve had all year.

And that’s saying quite a lot because we have a lot of fun at those Sunday dinners.

And here is a BONUS tip from me to you.

I placed paper towels under the t-shirts while everyone was dying to absorb some of the color and then dried the towels on the clothes line. I have been using the towels to wrap up shipments from my etsy shop.

They make great wrapping material!!

You would be welcome any time, Alyson.
It’s my attempt to keep my little birds coming back to the nest on a regular basis. Sneaky mom style. 🙂
