Do you have a talisman?
Maybe you do and you just don’t realize that is what it is?
A talisman is a shape, word or other object that you feel gives you good luck, provides protection or has special meaning to you.
Now I be you can answer that first question. I think most of us have a talisman or two.
Susan Lenart Kazmer the artist behind ICE Resin has studied talismans quite a lot in her art career and I have been asked to share one of my own talismans as part of an ongoing series.
I knew immediately that I wanted to incorporate my goddess icon into my piece because she is very special to me.
Back when I was first starting this blog I thought long and hard about an icon or symbol that would personify what I love most in life. Something that encompassed all that I do, and had planned to share here, as a wife, mother, woman, business owner, writer, artist and home maker.
Home is important to me. It’s important to have a place where my family can come and feel safe and secure. I hold this space open for my family physically and in my heart where they can come for food, comfort and love.
Creativity is important to me as well. Having the time and ability to experiment, create and embellish my world makes me a happy woman.
Also important is the power of the divine feminine. The life givers, peace makers, survivors, teachers, and comfort givers. The woman who stands in her own power and knows who she is.
The woman who gives birth to ideas, art, people and creativity.
The woman who makes a home a home and does her best to make the world around her a better place.
She is The Creative Goddess.
And I try every day to be that kind of person – live that kind of life.
Sometimes I do well… and other days not so much. But I do try.
To make this necklace I sealed a beautiful piece of handmade paper in the bezel and then gave it a coating of ICE Resin.
Once that was set I created a stencil and used liquid gold leaf to create the goddess image and then added more ICE Resin.
The necklace portion is a long chain that I added some beaded wire wrapping over sari ribbon along with some other wire wrapped beads.
Do you have a talisman? What is it and why is it important to you?
