Sometimes using paper and ICE Resin doesn’t work out exactly as planned. I added the paper to this bezel and THOUGHT I had created a good barrier and that the ICE Resin wouldn’t seep into the paper. Sadly, I was wrong.
At first I thought the piece was ruined but then I wondered if there might be a way to cover up the edges so that it wouldn’t look so bad. And that’s when I decided to try creating a beaded bezel.
I had already added ICE Resin to the bezel but only just enough to cover the paper so there was room to add more.
I used some very fine wire that I swiped from a piece of wired ribbon (crafting cannibalism!) and strung small red seed beads on it.
I kept testing and arranging until I got enough seed beads to fit just inside the bezel edges and then I ran the ends of each wire through several beads to help hold them in place.
Once I got the seed beaded bezel exactly where I wanted it I added a little more ICE Resin to secure it in place.
After the ICE Resin set I cut the extra wire close to the beads.
You can see here that I added a bit too much ICE Resin but that’s because I need to get my eyes checked! 🙂
The beaded bezel doesn’t cover the edges of the paper entirely but it kind of looks like a shadow now and the “mistake” isn’t quite so noticeable.
So yeah, now I’m going to be doing this ON PURPOSE!
After I get my eyes checked. HA!
