Darice Battery Operated Bead Spinner Necklace

Darice Battery Operated Bead Spinner
Have you seen this battery operated bead spinner yet?  It’s pretty darn cool. In fact, I like it enough that I gave one away for National Craft Month in March.

It comes with all of this in the box.  It takes a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it projects made with lots of seed beads go much quicker than stringing them one at a time by hand.

One trick I learned is that it works much better when the bowl is pretty full.

I even have a project for you! You aren’t surprised are you? 🙂

bead stoppers, seed beads, fire line

You need bead stoppers, beading line of your choice and 5-7 different colors of seed beads.  Keep the seed beads all in the same color family (I chose blues) and arrange them from darkest to lightest.

Cut 6 or 7 strands of bead line (I like Fireline… it’s a fishing line!) to 24 inches or a length of your choosing.

seed bead, necklace, pendant

Add beads to each line, darkest beads first.  Keep adding until you have 4 inches of each color.  For example, 4 inches of the darkest color, 4 inches of the next color and so on.  Remember to use the bead stoppers on the ends of all of the lines to keep from losing your beads!

Bring all strands together and put 2 or 3 ‘E’ sized beads on the ends. Add a cone, a crimp bead, another ‘E’ bead and one end of the closure.  VERY CAREFULLY and PATIENTLY fish the line back through the ‘E’ bead and crimp bead and then back into the cone.  Crimp the crimp bead.

Repeat on second side.  Attach pendants of your choice with a jump ring.  You may also opt to skip the pendants and close the necklace at the back.  You could also mix up the different blues or go for more of a monochromatic look by just using one color seed bead.
