I don’t know about you but I’m a big fan of FROGS. There is just something about them. In some cultures they are good luck and in others a fertility symbol. I like both concepts. Not fertility in a baby making kind of way (not at this point in my life!) but fertility of mind, creativity and ideas. They are also a sign of warmer weather… I miss hearing them in the winter.
So here is a frog greeting card I made with SPRING in mind. I know its’ on the way…
Supplies:
- Glossy cardstock
- pigment ink – Scrappy Cat – blue and green
- ink daubers
- scrap paper
- frog stamp – Stampendous
- sentiment stamp – Stampendous
- bit of ribbon
- Cardstock – white and green
Lay the scrap cardstock straight across the glossy cardstock. Dab one color of ink (green) in lines all the way across the cardstock. To dab start by placing the ink dauber on the scrap cardstock and then lightly and quickly rub off the scrap cardstock and onto the glossy cardstock. That way there is a more concentrated amount/color of ink near the scrap card stock that slow fades into the white glossy cardstock.
Let the green ink dry throughly. This will take a little while as pigment inks dry slowly on the glossy cardstock.
And then repeat the line making process in the opposite direction using the blue ink. Let dry.
Cut a piece of green cardstock to 3 3/4 inches by 3 3/4 inches. Stamp the frog onto a piece of white card stock that is 2 1/2 inchs by 2 1/2 inches and use the green ink dauber to color just the edge of the white cardstock. Adhere the two layers together and then put them on the card.
Add ribbon to the front wrapping the ends to the back of the cardstock. Adhere the glossy cardstock to the front of a card blank.
Stamp the sentiment inside.
