Clear Mini Wedding Album

February 24, 2009

I love the look of these clear mini albums but they certainly take some thought and planning. Why?  Because you have to plan the pages not only so that they look good front and back but also so that when you look at the whole album it looks good.  You don’t want to see the back of a sticker on page 5 or have an arm from page 4 sticking out of someone’s head on page 2.  That would just be weird!

I don’t have a lot in the way of instructions to give but I took lots of pictures of the one I made for a  fictitious wedding.  I don’t have recent wedding photos so I cut some out of magazines.  I hope it will give you ideas for your own clear mini album.

Above, is a view of the whole album from the front cover.  The cylinder of white behind the album is a roll of paper towels I used to prop it up.  You can see all the way through the album in some parts and the black ribbon in the lower center is actually on page two but it shows through and looks good on the cover.  The coral ribbon behind that is on page three.  You get the idea.

This is page two and three.  See how the coral paper on the right side of page two comes from the left side of the cover?  I made that narrow, soft pink, velvet ribbon (just to the left of the coral paper) go all the way around the page so it looks good on both sides.  There is a piece of white tulle behind the paper on the right of page three that show through to page four (below). I just liked the texture it added.

This is page four. You can see the black ribbon and coral paper from page two. Again, I put the wide ribbon around the whole thing so it looks nice on page three and four.

This is a shot of page six lying on top of page four.  See how the layers work together?

Page seven.

Pages six and seven.

Pages eight and nine.  I started running out of pictures to cut out! 🙂  See how the word wedding STILL show through from page four? I like it because now the page says “wedding” and “rings”.  The pages aren’t lined up perfectly in this photo but you get the idea.

The back.  I didn’t tape down the pper on page nine so I could go back in and add a picture to finish the back.  There really isn’t any paper on the back of the book where it might get damaged, instead I planned the last page to sandwhich together so that the back looked out onto the back of the album.  I tied tulle and ribbon to the rings when I was finished and it was super cute!
