I don’t know about you but I need some COLOR in my space. Afterall, I live in NE Ohio and it’s winter. I saw this fabric in a bin at the craft store and I just had to do something with it. I LOVE it!
I covered the top of a paper mache tissue box cover in mod podge and smoothed it down.
By they way, if you need to improve your podging skills (yeah, I just made that up but I’m guessing I’m not the first person who has used it!) then you might want to check out the Tips page on Mod Podge Rocks
Then I cut all but about a quarter of an inch away, put a dab of Mod Podge on the top of the sides and wrapped the fabric down over the sides mitering the corners to make them lay smooth. Let that dry a bit.
Then one side at a time I put on Mod Podge and smoothed the fabric over the tissue box cover.
Let the Mod Podge dry and then cut the excess fabric away.
Notice how the fabric on the top of the box (bottom of photo) wraps down over the side and then the fabric on the sides just covers up the raw edges.
I turned the tissue cover upside down and cut some lines in the fabric with a sharp craft knife. Cut and fold the fabric over to the inside of the box and adhere it to the inside with a little more Podge.
I glued a little bit of bright yellow ribbon around the top to cover the raw edges.
I basically repeated the same process with all of the pieces. The round cylinder is actually a glass cylinder vase repurposed as a colored pencil holder.

What a cute idea!! I’m about to start a new job where I’ll actually have my own office and I’m definitely going to make some of these things for my new office.
Great colors! I am new to the crafting world, bought a box, some paper and some mod podge to make a worry box. But now I’m wondering if fabric would be better.
Hm…
Vicki- thanks for the shout-out and the great project. This is the kind of post we can use on CU, too. I love you because you’re brilliant! ; ) -J
Kewlness!
Vicki, I love this so very much! Going to link to it on MPR at the beginning of Feb. Yay!
