I was about to call it a day last Friday evening when I decided that I really needed to make new earrings to wear to my nephew’s wedding on Saturday. We were leaving early in the morning and driving out of state so there would be no time on Saturday morning to make them.
So I went back into the studio, grabbed some supplies and made these Easy to Make Chain and Crystal Earrings while we caught up on the past weeks’ episode of Game of Thrones.
Yup, they are just that easy. But because they are made with sterling silver and Swarovski crystals they still look really nice.
Supplies:
- Silver earring wires
- Silver 4mm jump ring
- Silver chain
- Silver headpins
- Black and clear Swarovski crystals in various shapes and sizes (6mm and down)
To make the earrings cut the chain into 2 lengths that are 11 links long, 2 lengths that are 9 links long and 2 lengths that are 7 links long.
Put a crystal on a headpin, create a simple loop, and attach it to the length of chain. Add the larger crystals to the bottom of the chain and the smaller ones near the top.
Put the chain onto the jump ring with the longest length in the center and add the earring wire.
Make sure the loops are closed on all of the headpins.
Here is some of the other jewelry I wore. I read once that, “Jewelry should be cousins, not sisters”. So everything is related but it doesn’t look exactly the same.
I have another one of these necklaces listed in my etsy shop and I wore the big Onyx ring I made in my silver smithing class.
I asked my mother if she liked my ring because, you know, I’m rather proud that I learned how to make it.
You know, she said it makes my fingers look short. I had to chuckle. I couldn’t get a compliment out of that woman if her life depended on it.
Ahhh family.
PS. Oh, and did you catch this past Sundays’ episode of Game of Thrones? Yikes!
Love your designs! thanks!
Thank YOU Jeanne!! ♥♥♥
Iwas sorry to hear about your bout with cancer. Here is hoping 2015 will be the year of the cure and that you will be 100% soon again.
