Now that you’ve got most of your Halloween treat bags, juice box covers and other goodies made you probably have a stack of left over papers and embellishments.
Never fear, your favorite Creative Goddess to the rescue! I have an idea to help you use some of that up… if not ALL of it! 🙂
The above photo shows most of the supplies I used. And yes, those are mostly whole sheets but you can use whatever you have left over. I did change out the Styrofoam ring. That one was too thick.
I used this thinner Styrofoam ring instead.
And I painted it with Design Master in Flat Black. Design Master is the PERFECT spray paint for styrofoam because it won’t melt it.
Then I cut out various sizes of scalloped circles with the Nestabilities dies on my Cuttlebug. The papers are Bazzill Basics card stock, Reminisce papers and other papers I had used in previous projects.
See how we’re doing this? No new products, no purchases needed. Just using up the stuff you already have on hand. 🙂
I also had stickers, K & Company stickers and little Darice Halloween Buttons. You could add all sorts of leftover goodness to your wreath.
By the way, I put it all together with Zip Dry paper adhesive and it has held up nicely. Just thought you might like to know.
And see how super thin it is? I’m not sure why I think that’s a great “selling point” but I just think it’s kind of cool that it is sooo super thin. Easy to pack away for next year, easy to put between a door and a screen door…
I hope this gives you ideas for ways to use up your left over Halloween paper crafting supplies. Goodness knows, we’re all trying to get every penny out of the products we buy these days!
Your last name caught my eye since I’m also an O’Dell … besides that, I really liked your idea for the Halloween wreath using scrap paper, which I have a lot of and the comments from others about using the idea for other holidays and events (birthdays, anniversaries?) What a great idea, so simple and yet so attractive to display on my front door. Thanks for your ideas .. they are simple (even I can do them :o) and very attractive.
Well hello Grammy. What part of the world are you from? Maybe we are related.
Thank you for the compliment. I’m so glad you stopped by! 🙂
I’m from the Pacific Northwest … Washington (the state) to be exact. The original O’Dell clan lives is Williamsport, Pennsylvania, immigrating from Germany centuries ago. Some live in Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia etc. We’re slowly taking over!
You never know … we may be ‘shirt tail cousins’ after all. Wouldn’t that be a kick.
Not only did you acquire a good Name but you also have a great program going here. How long have you been doing this? I just came upon it today, it’s wonderfully good.
Your new fan,
Grammy Pauline O’Dell
The story about how my ancestors got here is rather colorful. Allegedly there were two brothers who were chased out of Ireland for stealing horses. They ended up in and around West Virginia. One of them married a Native American woman who was my great grandmother. That’s the story anyway. 😉
Thank you. I’ve been blogging for 6 years. I love it!
This is adorable! I love it! This is a great idea for any holiday to use up all the extra scraps. Rather than throw them away, decorate with them!
Thanks Jenna!
Yes, why not use scraps from ALL of the holidays?!?! In fact you could make a “Happy EVERYTHING” wreath and use up paper from ALL of the holidays!
Well, OK that might be a bit much! LOL!
OOOO! Great idea! Of course you can re-make it. I can’t wait to see what you do and I always appreciate the fact that you ask AND provide plenty of link love along with your posts. That’s how the blogging universe SHOULD work! 🙂
Love this idea! Mind if I re-make it using old holiday cards? With links and attribution, of course….great stuff, lady!
