Harvest Festival Scarecrow Treat Bag

When I pulled out all of the Fall and Halloween decorations I found this adorable little treat bag. It’s from one of the kids’ Harvest Festivals at school and was made AGES ago (WAY before ANYONE was blogging!) but I thought I’d share it here for any of you who might be stuck for a UN-Halloween looking project.

It’s made from two pieces of felt cut into a rectangle and sewn together on three sides. The edges are given a decorative finish and the bottom corners are rounded off with pinking sheers.

The black triangle hat is glued on with Fabri-Tac over a hunk of raffia.

The eyes and nose are shapes cut from fabric that has fusible webbing on the back. They are ironed on and the mouth is dimensional fabric paint.

(You could also use buttons for the eyes to make for less fabric cutting!)

This is the back/top view. You can see that a piece of jute is glued in between the hat and face giving it the ability to hang on a door knob or the back of a chair if you wish.

I’m actually thinking of making a bunch of these for our family dinner next Sunday and filling them with candy for my pretty much grown kids. I think they’d really enjoy it!
