A party favor? A place card? A small tree for a hospital or nursing home room? Yup! All of the above.
The craft store had a bajillion of these little trees. I liked the tree but not the base.
So I cut the base off with my Knipex (see my review of Knipex on the Craft Test Dummies Blog).
And I gave a wooden spool a spray with Design Master Glossy Wood Tone Stain. It’s the same stain that I used to make my Vintage Inspired Tinsel Wreath look more vintage.
I love, love, love the K & Company papers by Susan Winget. Heck, I LOVE just about everything K & Company produces! Don’t you?
I accented the spool with ColorBox Pigment Ink in Gold and then put a strip of the K & Company paper around the spool.
I adhered the paper to the spool with my Glue Glider Pro Perma Tac tape.
To secure the tree in the spool I put glue down in the top of the spool and inserted the stem of the tree then I flipped it over and added glue to the bottom.
I painted one 1 7/8 inch rounded wooden star off white and another I sprayed with the Design Master Glossy Wood Tone Stain. I accented the edge of both stars with the gold ink and hot glued them to the top of the tree.
The one on the left I kept plain and simple but the one on the right I added velvety red flowers and little white flowers to the tree with hot glue. Then I tied a sheer ribbon around the top of the spool and added a tiny bow.
I like them both but I think the one on the left is my favorite. Which is your favorite?
Very cute!
