I was bitten by the miniature bug a while ago and I still suffer from the effects. There is just something about the teeny tiny replicas of live sized things that I can’t help but adore.
I thought this would make a great gift for a favorite teacher or for Father’s Day. There are so many miniatures available you could create something geared toward almost any interest! And if you can’t find extactly what you want then maybe you can create the little bits of goodness your self.
I found a small shadow box with a slide front on it.
Stained it with Folk Art stains in Oak.
And gathered up a whole bunch of minitures, knick knacks and this little chalkboard. If you write on a chalkboard with a Sharpie Paint Pen it looks quite a bit like chalk but it’s permanent!
I added small foam apples, the I love dogs and #1 Teacher knick knacks, miniature books, another chalkboard, a tricycle, a cup of coffee and a pot of roses along with a pencil cup complete with pencils and some other things. I used my trusty hot glue gun to secure them all. (Lots of different glues would work for this if you aren’t a hot glue gun fan.)
Do you remember back in the ’70’s the wall hanging shadow boxes kind of similar to this? I had forgotten about them until I started putting this together. Funny how things come back to you years and years later isn’t it?
Yeeeeee Hawwww! I love it! And yes – I had one, way back when. Mine featured… of all things – SMURFS! {I KNOW!} Shhhhhhhhhh!
Now it can be such a challenge to find these bad boys! I remember when CostPlus used to sell them by the bushel! YIKES!
