Thinking of Spring and a Mixed Metals Necklace

Mixed Metals Necklace

I was cruising around the internet the other day, minding my own business when I spied a necklace that I totally loved.

It was long, simple and had a mix of metals. It had feathers and leaves and a flower and it made me think of SPRING.

It was also almost 200 dollars!!

Why do I have to have such expensive taste? Really.

So I decided to try and make one of my own with (mostly) supplies I had on hand and some supplies that Impress Art just sent my way.

I started going through boxes and boxes of jewelry making supplies and gathered up some leaf charms, a big flower pendant some chain and a clasp.

I got out my dapping block, nylon hammer, Pinata ink and my reading glasses.

As you can see in the photo I put a couple of Impress Art blanks into my wooden dapping block and gave them a gentle curve just so that all of the elements of the necklace wouldn’t be totally flat.

I stamped the word SPRING into the butterfly as part of my review over on Craft Test Dummies today and I decided to use that too.  It was too perfect to pass up!

You can read my review here: Craft Product Review Update: Impress Art Metal Stamps

I put the butterfly into the biggest spot on the dapping block and gave it some curve like some of the other elements.

I stamped the little, round, brass blanks with the Large Dandelion Stamp and then used pinata ink on them and the butterfly to help the stamping to stand out better.

I did learn that the stamps with bigger designs take a stronger WHACK with the hammer to get a good impression.

Finally, I attached everything to the chain with jump rings and added the clasp.

It’s not EXACTLY like the mixed metals necklace I saw on the internet but it’s also much more AFFORDABLE.

Don’t you love it when you can get what you want at a price you can afford?

I would appreciate it very much if you would consider using my affiliate links below if you choose to purchase any of the items mentioned above. Or other items for that matter.

Thank you VERY MUCH!!

Disclosure: Impress Art provided product for my use in this project.

Oh Vicki, I LOVE this necklace. I haven’t ever seen the wood block you’ve shown. A regular mortar and pestal works pretty good for me though. What did you use to stamp the words in?

      Hi Deb,

I used ImpressArt metal stamps. There is a link to their website in the paragraph just below the dapping block. I hope that helps! 🙂
