I have found TWO of these frames lately and I’m crazy about them. They appear to be Gesso on wood.
You can see at the bottom right (above photo) how the white of the Gesso shows through.
I purchased this frame on our trip to Amish country from a cute little thrift shop called The Kamali (which is Amish for “Closet” the shop owner told me). You can see that it’s quite old and damaged but I didn’t care… I LOVED IT!!
And for $13… it was MINE!! 🙂
You can see a slide show from the trip if you’d like – Photo Sunday: First Day of Autumn in Amish Country
The other one I found at a thrift store here in town and it’s part of a VERY HEAVY mirror.
The poor thing was painted with some HIDEOUS colors but I knew it had potential.
The thrift store had $19 dollars on it but I got it for $12.
Hey, $19 dollars was just too much to pay for that kind of UGLY! Ya know? 🙂
I ended up painting the second one black and using them both as part of the Halloween decor on my mantle.
The tall frame had a few small nails poking out so I strung some twine across the frame and hung little flash cards I’d purchased a few years ago from Cari Craft and a post card (center of the frame… largest photo) from A Fanciful Twist. It also includes a few small photos I picked up last year from the flea market in Hartville, OH.
SUPER LOVE!
Even with the sun out today I had a hard time getting good photos. Our little house has very deep eaves and while they keep the weather away from the windows they also keep a lot of sunlight out.
Anyway, do you know anything about gesso on wood frames? I did a little research online but didn’t come up with much.
PS. The white pumpkins? Acrylic paint on foam pumpkins. 🙂
