My Crafty Best Friend Forever (CBFF) Jenny of Craft Test Dummies had a birthday last week and I made her a few gifts. Because, hey, if you’re going to give handmade gifts why not give them to a crafty friend who will really appreciate them. Right?
Anyway, I wanted to wrap the gifts and give them in something kind of special but I wasn’t sure where to go from there. THEN I remembered a Viactiv container I had just emptied.
And it only seemed fitting that I would upcycle the Viactiv container since it was Jenny who turned me on to them.
So I gathered up some supplies and got to work.
Some of my supplies included:
K&Company embellishments sent to me by EK Success (THANK YOU!)
Paper from Prima – The Fairy Bell Collection by Jodie Lee Designs
Distress Powder
Perfect Pearls
Butterfly stamp
First I figure out which part of the paper I wanted on the container, cut it and then spritzed it around the edges with Perfect Pearls. I embossed the butterfly on the paper and then adhered it to the container with the Glue Glider.
I created a pattern for the top by using a piece of scrap paper and burnishing it along the inside raised edge, cut it out and used it to create the insert for the top.
Then I simply embellished the top and front with the K&Company embellishments and wrapped some fun fibers around the container.
For the inside I added some shredded craft paper and left the container sit open for a few days to get rid of that distinct Viactiv smell. Not that it’s bad, mind you, just strong.
If you want to see what I gave Jenny – she wrote about it in her Happy Birthday to ME post.
Vicki- if I haven’t said it enough, THANK YOU for both the wonderful gifts AND your friendship. I am so lucky/blessed/honored to have you as a friend. You are precious to ME! {{BIG HUG}}!
Jenny,
It’s so nice to be in a friendship where there is mutual admiration and appreciation. And you know my history with women relationships! OY! lol!
I’m glad you loved your little gifties and thanks for helping me to remember how wonderful it can be to make lovely things for people again! 🙂
Your CBFF,
V
