The Howlite and gray glass pearl beads in this piece give it a great high-end, sophisticated look that is actually easy to put together. Really!
I’m not sure why this necklace was hard to photograph but it was. I ended up with a file of mostly useless photos. I managed to find a couple that aren’t too terrible. It’s a shame too because I really like this piece and the photos I have don’t do it justice.
Oh well. Moving on… 😉
Supplies:
- White Howlite Donut Bead 40mm
- Round Disk Howlite – 15mm
- Round Howlite – 8mm
- Czech Pearl Strand – Silver Gray
- 2 inch eye pins
- Cable Chain
- Darice Design Board
The photo above shows how I laid everything out on the Design Board before adding the chain pieces. Each grouping of beads is put on an eye pin and a simple loop is added to the other end.
I used a jump ring to attach the four pieces of chain to the donut and then added them to the next piece with an eye pin. You can probably see pretty easily how the whole thing goes together just by looking at the photo.
Chain, eye pins a couple of jump rings and a clasp. It’s that easy!
I like asymmetrical pieces but I know plenty of people who have to have things exactly the same on either side. Do you like asymmetrical or symmetrical?
Oooh… I love this necklace, Vicki! The howlite and grey pearls together look so chic–and I think that you have convinced me to give one of those planning boards a try. I usually start in the middle and then find myself spending too much time trying to match up the sides, add length, etc.
Kim,
The boards do help. I generally use them to just give me a good idea of how I want to lay things out. Sometimes I still “wing it” though. 🙂
