This is one of those projects I put together because I had a need. Something I made just for me.
That doesn’t happen often.
Anyway, I had the base of an old lazy Susan hanging around and a pizza pan I had purchased for another project. They got married with the help of some Krazy Glue.
And then I sprayed the whole thing with Chalkboard paint from Krylon. I wasn’t so sure the chalkboard part was necessary but I wanted the base and the pizza pan to look kind of like they were one piece.
And you never know, I may decide to use chalk on it some day.
I also had some soup and tomato sauce cans which I covered with corrugated scrapbook paper, cork scrapbook paper and leopard spotted bling from Buckle Boutique.
And now I have the perfect caddie to hold all of my coloring supplies. Because, yeah, I’ve jumped on that adult coloring book bandwagon too.
Some days I use pencils or some days markers.
I even went this weekend and bought myself the Grand Daddy box of 64 Crayola crayons.
It’s something I do just for me. To unwind, to have something to do with my hands while my mind turns over a question or problem and just because I like it.
I like the flat look of the corrugated paper and cork paper with the bling from Buckle Boutique. It’s just fun.
What things do you do just for YOU?
I have several Lazy Susan’s that I’ve picked up at thrift stores and such. Use a bunch of them with cans, bowls, whatever. I’ve just not taken the time to really decorate them. As for the coloring books….I love that there are ADULT coloring books now! However, I find it more relaxing for me to do the drawing of those wonderful coloring pages. I’ve been toying with the whole Zen Tagle and Zen Doodle thing. Have only a few distinct patterns that I tend to use. The rest is all me….all doodle. 🙂
What I do for me is to foster Cairn Terriers for Col. Potter. But this summer I ended up with three sweet boys along with our own elderly crabby female. The first boy had terrible yeasty skin that required frequent baths. The second boy was a 10 y/o boy just out of a puppy mill and he was sweet and easy. The third boy I asked for and he turned out not to be a Cairn but a Yorkie/Chihuahua mix and a real needy little guy. End result was basically no jewelry done. Tomorrow the sweet puppy mill boy is flying off to his new home in GA leaving me with the needy mix and our girl. I hope to be able to start getting back into making some jewelry! I want to make some to make money for Col. Potter but I soooo need practice.
I’ve been doing those coloring books longer than I have been making jewelry and I find when i’m in a funk I jump on the coloring books and find they help me relax so I can design more jewelry. You won’t be disappointed. I use colored pencils and crayons The books are endless supply of creativity.
Thanks for the comment JewelryMADEfromHOME. I’m glad someone else loves them so much!
Love this project. It turned out great. Even better… I have a lazy Susan unit that needs refurbished. Thanks for the idea. 🙂
Yay! I hope you share a photo of yours Pamela.
