Anyone need a Father’s Day gift that the kids can make? I thought so! 🙂
It can either hold bird food or water for a bird bath. It’s super easy to make and costs $2.75 or less to make.
You only need three things to make it too. A 6″ clay saucer ($1.47) 8″ Grapevine Wreath ($1.00) and Jute (one roll of jute will make several of these!)
Tie one end of the jute to the grapevine wreath with a square or double knot.
Make a “spider web” on the grapevine wreath with the jute. No need to go crazy with it. Just enough to hold the saucer in. Tie the jute when you are finished just like you did when you started.
Cut three lengths of jute to about 5 feet. Place the center a piece of the jute on the grapevine wreath and tie it in a knot.
Repeat with the other two pieces of jute and place around the grapevine wreath in a way that allows it to hang level. This is easier to do if someone holds the tops of the jute for you or you can hang it on a shepherds hook or from a branch.
Gather all three sections of jute and tie in a knot at the top. Leave the braided jute long enough to allow the bird feeder/bath to hang.
Hang over a branch or a hook and fill with seed or water. I like the natural look, the price and simplicity. Of course, it’ll look better in my back yard than it does here against the floor of my work area! 🙂
