There is something about Spring that makes me want to be a little more “girly” than usual. And you can’t get much more romantic than pearls and roses. I created this project for the Crafts Unleashed blog a couple of months ago and it times out perfectly to share it with you for Mother’s Day!

For some reason my camera wants us to see the pinks, peaches and creams a little more gold than they actually are but that is OK since it lets you see the texture and difference in color a little better. If you click on the photo in this post twice it should show up large enough for you to see the details.
Cut three pieces of wire to about 14-16 inches and string randomly with a mix of the pearls and filigree beads.
Cut a length of chain. The length of the chain will depend on how long you want your necklace.
On one beaded strand put on a clear bead and a crimp bead.
OR you can use a bead reamer to make the hole in the last pearl large enough to accommodate the beading wire.
Thread the beading wire through the very bottom link of chain (inspect the link to make sure it is completely closed with no gaps for the wire to fall through). Push the wire back through the crimp and first bead.
Crimp and cut off excess wire.
Repeat for the other two strands and then repeat for the second side.
I skipped a chain link in between each strand of pearls.
Add the clasp to the end of the chain.
To attach the roses I sewed through them with ivory thread and sewed them directly to the chain. When adding the second, smaller rose be sure to stitch the two roses together for added stability.
And that’s that. A perfect necklace for your favorite spring outfit, or as a Mother’s Day gift!

I love this…thank you for sharing. Can you let me know where you bought the roses?
Thanks Carol
Hi Carol,
The ones I used can be found here:http://www.consumercrafts.com/store/details/catalog/jewelry-embellishments-flowers/flow-136
Thanks for asking.
Vicki
New to jewelry making and looking forward to making this “cute” piece!! Love the idea of the supply link to get what is needed!
Hi Mindy! I hope all of the supplies are still at the links I created. Sometimes companies stop carrying things or move them to another section of the website. Welcome to the jewelry making world! 🙂
easy and lovely
Thank you! 🙂
Do you remember where you bought the roses? If not, are they made from paper or fabric
Thanks,
Kathy
Hi Kathy,
There is a link to the source in the supply list. I hope that helps. 🙂

This is beautiful!
I’m a collector of old jewelry and this would be a perfect way to update some of the beautiful strands of pearls and those wonderfully chunky beads from the 50s and 60s that I have.
Now to play with some ribbon and see if I can make those roses!
Jan
Thank you Jan. Let me know if you make some of the roses. I’d love to see them. OR you could just buy them like I did. LOL! 🙂
Vicki,
This is a gorgeous piece! You are right, perfectly Spring-y and girly! Plus there is always a place for great pearls.. even if they are a little off shape. I don’t think this piece would work as well with round pearls. Three cheers!!
