This isn’t a post with detailed instructions about how to plan a garden. Rather, it’s a post about how to plan your gardens from the INSIDE of your house. You see, our treadmill looks out this window right at this tree that I’ve dubbed “Big Sister”.
We look at that tree A LOT. So I decided to plan a fairy garden by standing on the treadmill and creating it in a way that will give us something fun to look at while we put more miles on our sneakers.
I first got the idea last fall and brought a load of rocks to this area from another fairy garden I have going. Then I kind of dropped the ball.
This spring I got going again and I’ve made some good progress.
Just this morning I put the mulch down and several more loads of rocks. One reason I’m so late getting this post up is because I had to wait until I could move my arms again.
I’m only sort of kidding.
I’m not sure if this Clay Pot Fairy Garden House will stay in this location but for right now it looks kind of cute there. Besides, the toad that lives under Big Sister is sleeping behind it. Do you see him?
I think he needs a name…
Anyway, I’m working hard to create this little garden that I will be able to enjoy from the treadmill. It’s hard work but it makes me happy.
I do find myself standing at other windows in our house sketching out plans for more gardens. This is my NEW way to plan my gardens… from the inside out.
What makes you happy? And what should I name the toad?
Today is the first Monday of the month and that means it is The Designer Craft Connection Blog Hop. The theme this month is “happiness is…”.

This is sooo cute! I love the idea of a fairy garden and having something lovely to look at through your window.
Thank you, Tatiana. I love it so much I’m going to look out every window in my house and see what I can do to improve the view! 🙂
Great idea! This is a brilliant way to start your day, looking out onto your beautiful gardens to put a smile on your face and motivate you first thing in the morning. I bet the fairy garden can even be winterized for year round happiness.
Thanks Jessie. Yes, the fairy garden can be winterized but only to a certain extent as I live in NE Ohio. Winters are brutal on many items left outside. Either they will freeze and break or the wind will sail them off to a new fairy garden on the other side of town. I will have to find something to keep there though so I have some color and whimsy to look at while I’m on the treadmill. 🙂
