Last week I completely dismantled my living room in preparation for having the carpet cleaned. I wiped down walls, dusted fixtures and totally cleared all of the stuff off the wall to the right.
It didn’t take me long to decide that that wall needs repainting. In a BIG way. I don’t know how well you can see it but I painted the wall with flat paint and then used foam leaf stamps and glossy paint in the same exact color and stamped leaves all over the wall. It was cool because the leaves kind of changed as the light in the room changed (what little light there is) but that was probably at least 8 years ago.
I know, right?
Me. Keep a wall the same color that long. What’s come over me?
Anyway. Time for a change. And I was thinking BLUE. Not a soft pastel blue but BOLD, BRIGHT, BLUE. Something to make you sit up and take notice.
So I had my husband pick up a bunch of color cards from Lowe’s after I showed him what color I was going for and I chose two colors I thought I might like.
Can I tell you that at this point I think he thought I was joking? I don’t think he thought I’d go through with it.
He came in an looked at the swatches I painted and pronounced the color I LOVED to be garish. Garish. Yeah, really.
But in the next breath he said, “Do whatever you want, you’ve haven’t done anything yet that I ended up hating.”
And then the very next day I saw this color combo from Design Seeds and I posted it on my facebook page. LOVE!!
And when I opened the can of paint (Valspar Filoli Morning Glory) yesterday morning I literally squealed and yelled, “CANDY”!
It’s true. Ask my youngest son who kind of looked at me like I’d lost my mind.
You’d think he’d be used to me by now… I mean, after all, he is 19!
So I painted the wall.
But I can’t show it to you yet. I’ve been hunting down some fun items on ebay, at the thrift store & in my own lovingly curated collection/hoard that I want to put on the wall and when it’s all done I’ll show you.
And then you can decide if I’m courageous or crazy.
Or both. 🙂
Beautiful color pallette. I’m all about turquoise and orange. 🙂
Hi Felicity! I know, there is something about that combo that makes me HAPPY! 🙂
I can’t wait to see how your room turns out. I love the color inspiration you picked. That blue is heavenly!Be sure to let me know when it is complete & you share. I’m ready to do our kitchen!
Hi Theresa,
Thanks for the comment. I’m typing up the reveal post now. Not exactly this minute… because I’m replying to you… but kind of now. 😉
