How to Make a Necklace with Large Hole Beads

October 12, 2011

Seems I can’t go anywhere where beads are sold and not see these large hole beads.  I have to say that I really like them but they always seemed kind of limited to me just because the holes are so large.

Then I came up with this idea!

I have 10 beads and 5 spacers on beading wire but you can use as many or as few as you like. Put all of the beads and spacers on the wire in a pleasing arrangement and crimp a jump ring on each end.

Double a length of coordinating ribbon, feed the loop through the jump ring and bring the tales of the ribbon through the loop to secure. Repeat on the second side.

Finish the ends with ribbon crimp ends and a clasp.

If I make more of these I’m going to use a more decorative jump ring or connector ring. Don’t you think that would add a little something more to this piece?

All in all it only took about 10-15 minutes to make a necklace. Great for when you need a gift in a hurry!!

Not that there is any big hurry. Christmas is still 72 days away and my birthday 65 days. You still have PLENTY of time to make my gifts! 🙂
