Make a Hearts and Flowers Necklace for Valentine's Day

It’s a funny thing. Now that my jewelry making table is cleaned up after the meltdown of my superhappylovegoddess self the other night (See this post: Craft Therapy and a New Necklace) I spent half of yesterday just sitting down making things.

I had some more of those fun acrylic flowers and several Swarovski hearts hanging around so I decided to make a Hearts and Flowers Necklace with Valentine’s Day in mind.

If you missed them before I made earrings out of a different acrylic flower here: Acrylic Flower Earrings.

I love drop necklaces because they are easy to make, take few beads but still look nice.

Wanna make one? Here are the details.

Cut a length of chain to the length you want your necklace keeping in mind that there will be another 1 1/2 -2 inch drop added on.

Cut the chain in half and add a small jump ring to the center of one side.

Cut another section of chain 1 1/2 to 2 inches long and add it to the jump ring.

Add the second length of long chain and close the jump ring.

It should look like this once you have the three sections of chain assembled.

Now add the beads to the drop portion of the chain.

In this case I added acrylic flowers with a decorative headpin, a clear swarovski bicone and a leaf shaped bead cap. I created a wrapped loop to attach them to the chain.

I also added swarovski hearts with a small jump ring.

I love the red and the pink together.

I also really like the matte of the acrylic flowers with the little bit of sparkle added from the Swarovski beads.

And just because I could, I also made a pair of earrings (basically the same way as I made these: Acrylic Flower Earrings) to go with my necklace.

The only problem is… I don’t think I own anything anymore that is pink OR red.

I feel a shopping trip coming on!

Which makes me wonder… do you make jewelry for outfits you already have or do you just make what you like and hope you have something to wear with it?

I’d love to show you a pic of the ‘Fairy Bell’ earrings I make. They’d go great with this necklace 😀

I love your necklace and earrings!!! In answer to your question, I almost always make jewelry because I love the beads or a particular pattern. The problem with that is I wear mostly purple and seem to really LOVE green beads, all shades of green and even some blues. See the problem? So, because I have some pink acrylic flowers, I think I’ll make a necklace similar to yours (maybe add something purple if I can find it in my stash, LOL). Thanks for sharing your simple and very sweet design!

I LOVE these. Can you share where you bought the flowers. I have been trying to find them.

      Hi Deana,
      Thank you!
I bought them quite a while ago at my local craft store. I hope that helps.
