Today I had a lot to do so I didn’t get to the thrift store at all. But I thought I’d follow up last weeks’ post with a post showing you what I did with some of my thrifting finds.
Remember the $8 candelabra?
It looks like this now. I scratched the surface with a Scotch Brite pad and spray painted it with Fusion spray paint in Black Gloss and added some (not really) crystal bobeches. Part of me really wanted to spray paint this a Royal Blue color. Just to be even more different than I already am. I might still do it!
And the clock that someone had written the price on the face of it with permanent marker?
I used finger nail polish remover and a soft cotton pad to remove the marker. It had a plastic face and I was a little worried about using something harsh. I figured that acrylic nails are plastic and nail polish remove doesn’t harm them so I gave it a try. After the first wipe the worst of the color came off but there was still a trace of it left. So I went over it again with a clean cotton pad and it was all gone. Yippee! I love that little cherub head!
And one pair of the wall sconces I spray painted black like the candelabra.
This isn’t a very good picture but I love the silhouette of these sconces.
I’ll post tomorrow about some of the things I MADE while on my staycation!
