(Singing)I've been workin' on the railroad all the live long day…
Ok, not really, but I have been working out of town a lot lately. Commuting an hour each way leaves very little time for blogging as I'm sure you can imagine. So please forgive me if I've been out of touch lately. I'm working out of town again this week but I'm thinkin' I'll be back on schedule next week. I hope so… I've missed you. :)
Here is the second paper mache hand I found (the first one can be found here).
I painted it with a couple of base coats using Folk Art Enamels in Black. Then I made myself a little "splatter cubby". Really, I didn't want neon paint all over the place so my splatter cubby was a necessity. All I did was line a wooden crate with a plastic bag. Easy Peasy.
Then I gathered some supplies; Folk Art Neon paints, a plastic plate, 3 stiff brushes and 3 craft sticks.
Put a generous dollop of paint on the plate and then load up the brush. Flick the craft stick over the bristles splattering paint on the paper mache hand. If you have a dinner date, or just don't like getting your hands dirty, you may want to wear gloves for this part. Also, be careful which direction your craft stick goes in when you are flicking. I've been known to splatter myself on occasion!
Flick the paint on the hand until you get the coverage you like. Let dry.
Even the plate with paint on it is fun to look at isn't it?
I think this hand would be great in a teen or pre-teen room to hold jewelry, a sticky note, a hat stand or as a wall hook. Just put the base against the wall and put two small screws or nails through it to hold it to the wall. It wouldn't hold anything very heavy but it would look cool and hold something light weight.
