I was recently making these little soaps for favors for an upcoming summer party and I wanted something fun and bright to put inside the soap. You know, to make them more ME! 🙂
I just happened to have some of these Darice Paper Petals in my scrapbooking/papercrafting supplies and thought, “Why not!” I also used gems and other goodies from my scrapbook supply stash.
To finish them off I made headers for plastic bags and embellished them with more flowers. It really couldn’t be any easier!
You can purchase your very own Paper Petals at Consumer Crafts.
And just so you know… I do design for Crafts Unleashed a blog powered by Consumer Crafts but I purchased these particular flowers with my own money. 🙂
I love this idea, I’m just curious. How does the hot soap not ruin the flowers, or anything else that you toss in there? I was thinking that the only things you can safely put in something that hot would be metal or something along those lines…but your soaps with these flowers came out perfectly. How does that work?
Im trying to make soaps as party favors for my sisters going away party. Its disney themed and Id like to put little disney things in them but I’m not sure what all is safe and won’t get messed up, especially since most small disney things are plastic and such.
Tiffany,
The trick is to slowly melt the soap and not “boil” it. It gets pretty warm but not scorching hot. I’ve put lots of different items in soap. With the fabric flowers you have to be even more careful no to get it too hot as that can make the color bleed (remember they are fabric flowers, not real ones). Try it with one or two items at first until you get the knack of it.
I hope that helps!
