Smashed Button Necklace

You know that time when you had eleventyhundred projects going and needed more space to keep going so you had to stop and do some cleaning up so you could have more room?

Yeah. That’s where I am this week. I’ve got work starting to pour in (thank you universe!!) for CHA prep and next year’s marketing campaigns and I’ve got every available surface in the studio and workshop COVERED with stuff. But I need more room.

So I did some cleaning and I found this necklace I made a year or two ago and I thought I’d stop and share it with you.

I was rather proud of it at the time. I thought it was clever of me to smash some metal buttons with a hammer and then glue them to some filigree pieces and add it all to a necklace.

I added beads and a vintage brooch (the knight). I think I even wore it to CHA once.

Then I put it in a box of other jewelry pieces and left it in a corner. And forgot all about it.

Finding it was again was fun.

It looks kind of old spooky Halloween castle to me.

I love it when I leave myself presents.

I love it when I leave myself $20 in a coat pocket but I’ll take this too!

What kinds of presents do you tend to leave for yourself to find later?

What a stunning piece, Vicki! Not a new fan, but visited today by way of the Craft Test Dummies “Martha” post.

Always an inspiration to be here!

Hi Vicki, Just went on your website after reading more fabric art collage. Loved the book

with all the ideas. I was wondering if you could tell me the manufacturer of a rubber stamp

or stencil on page 91 of this book. It is the image at the bottom of the page that looks

like a doily. Those little books are great and I will probably want to make some for Christmas.

      Many thanks. Louise

        Hi Louise,
I’m sorry it took me a little while to get back to you. I had to do some research first. Research as in, I had to FIND the book! 🙂
It looks to me like that stencil is one of The Crafter’s Workshop stencils. You can find it at Scrapbook.com here: http://store.scrapbook.com/cf-tcw143.html?t12-13=the+crafters+workshop
I’ve ordered from scrapbook.com before and have been happy with my order.

        I hope that helps.
