Stenciled Garden Tote

Stenciled Garden Tote

I’m such a terrible mother.

My youngest son made this for me several years ago. Was it wood shop in High School or was it in Boy Scouts?

See, I don’t even remember WHEN or WHERE he made it.

Bad mom.

It’s been sitting on top of a shelf all of this time collecting dust because I never quite knew what to do with it.

But this weekend I was doing a  review of Stencib Self Adhesive Stencils for Craft Test Dummies and decided it was time to take this guy off the shelf and turn him into a garden tote.

I’ve been using a 5 gallon bucket to lug my garden tools from one spot to another and it works OK but it doesn’t have a handle.

And there have been a few times when I was kind of afraid to reach down in the bucket because I didn’t know if something or someone had set up shop in it since the last time it was used.

Anyway…

I brushed off the dust and gave it a good sanding inside and out.

Then I sprayed it with Krylon ColorMaster in Purple that I had on hand.

I used the Celtic Stencils from Stencib along with some lime green Folk Art paint to create the Claddagh on each end.

I LOVE IT!

All of my hand tools fit in it, I can see what is inside of it, PLUS it has a handle.

And now I feel better because it is getting used.

Not so bad mom?

What do you use to hold your gardening tools?

Be sure to check out my review  Stencib Self Adhesive Stencils to find out more about the stencils.

I love this garden tote! I, too, carry around a 5-gallon bucket, only mine has a handle. It’s a very UNattractive empty cat litter bucket, but it’s been doing a great job holding my garden tools. I think I should upgrade, now that I’ve seen your project! Thanks for the inspiration! 🙂

I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now Laura and I love it. It is so nice to be able to see all of my tools at a glance. 🙂
