I’ve been doing more jewelry making than just about anything the past few months and some of my FAVORITE jewelry making involves bead weaving. IN FACT I’ll have a post up later this week showing you how I made a necklace for the Emmys (Yes, I said THE EMMYS) using a free style bead weaving technique. I’m so excited I can’t stand it!!
Anyway, what I really wanted to share with you today is my favorite needle for bead weaving. It’s the Darice Easy Eye Beading Needle.
There are two in a package and they sell for $.97 (USD) at Consumer Crafts
Here are a few reasons why I like them so much:
- The “eye” goes from top to bottom so they are super easy to thread. You can see this in the photo above where I put a bead inside the eye.
- They are flexible so that they weave in and out of several beads at a time
- Even though they can bend in a permanently you can still use them. In fact, for some of the work I do I PREFER a bent needle. Go figure!
- They are cheap!
Having said that, about the only reason I don’t like them is that every once in a while I’ll open the package to find the needle split all the way through making it nearly impossible to use. Oh, and they are kind of easy to loose because they are thin and fine.
So if you want to give them a try you may want to order an extra package just to be on the safe side.
Disclosure: I am the lead designer on the Consumer Crafts sponsored blog – Crafts Unleashed. But I purchased my needles with my own money. Just so ya know. 🙂
