Appreciation can be a sticky concept (my one little word for February is appreciation). We walk through life with these people we can’t imagine ever being without but how often do we stop to make sure they know we appreciate their place in our life? The things they do for us? The lessons we learn from them? How do we SHOW them what they mean to us?
What does appreciation look like to them? Maybe you bake extravagant birthday cakes to show your appreciation when all they really want is a hour of your time without you looking at your phone.
Maybe instead of a night out you wish your husband would take the kids for an afternoon so you can fritter away some time in your pajamas with a good book and a cup of tea? Uninterrupted.
So the question is – How do the people we appreciate want to be appreciated? Ask them. And then do it.
BTW, I made the Tiramisu Cake for my husband’s birthday and he totally loved it! (Recipe coming tomorrow)
To me, appreciation is open hearted and connecting. I am not as good at being appreciative as I would like to be. I feel it, but don’t express it as often to folks that deserve it. For example, I have so appreciated how much you and Kim have stepped up to help with the Artisans Guild. I have learned a lot and had a lot of fun this year. Thank you!!!
