Happy Valentine’s Day to some of my favorite people in the whole wide world. I hope it’s a great day for you no matter how you celebrate it.
I was cleaning up my mixed media area Tuesday night because it had gotten to the point where it was HEAPED with tons of supplies. I think I had a space that was 12 inches by 12 inches to work in. It was a train wreck.
But as usual… I got sidetracked.
Why is it that when you are supposed to be cleaning you think of new projects to make?
I had made a really cool Paper Mache heart project for Jacquard that you can see here (direct link to come) and I had lots of bead soup and other supplies left out.
LOTS of other supplies.
Which is why I was cleaning up!
Here is what I used:
- SmoothFoam 3 inch heart
- Lumiere 3-D Adhesive and Paint in Warm Gold
- Lumiere in Crimson
- A bead mix
- Buttons
- Tassle
I don’t have too many step-out photos as I just made this while I was cleaning up but it’s not difficult at all.
First, I painted the whole heart, including the sides, with Lumiere in Crimson and let it dry.
I learned a long time ago that painting a project red before painting it gold makes the gold really pop.
Then I coated the entire thing in Lumiere 3-D in Warm gold and sprinkled the seed bead mix all over.
Then I added the various buttons to the top.
While they weren’t exactly on the table I was supposed to be cleaning I knew I had two little, red tassels in my stash and I hunted them up.
With an awl I put a hole in the bottom of the heart and then used the Lumiere 3-D to glue the tassel into the bottom and the hanger into the top.
Let everything set up over night and they are all set to hang or add to a gift.
Vicki what a beautiful and fun quick project! I really love these and they will be gorgeous in a vignette or on a package. Thanks for the tutorial and the idea. Happy Valentines Day! Hope you have a fabulous day.
