I’m blaming the next few posts on Jenny over at Craft Test Dummies and her Domino Craft post. It’s been so long since I altered dominoes I’d almost forgotten about how much fun it can be. And you know me, I had to try a few different things. It’s all Jenny’s fault! 🙂
For this altered domino I used Aqua and Pearl Alcohol Inks.
Just put a little of each on the applicator pad and tap it onto the domino until you get the look you like. I rarely ever use the Blending Solution but if you find that you put too much alcohol ink on the domino or you don’t like the color combination the Blending Solution will remove the ink from the domino. Just squirt a little on and wipe the color off with a paper towel.
You can’t see it but there is just a hint of shimmery pearl on this.
When the stamp is much larger than the domino I ink the stamp (with brown Staz On ink in this case), lay it inked side up and then bring the domino to the inked stamp.
Bring the domino straight down and lift straight up again without rocking. Because the domino is smooth the stamp wants to slide a little so you may have to practice a time or two. Staz On All Purpose Cleaner (the stuff you use to clean your stamps) will remove the inked image from the domino if you don’t like the way the image came out. The only problem with that is that it’ll remove most of the alcohol ink too. But at least you don’t have to toss the domino, right? 🙂
Stay tuned all this week and I’ll show you, different color combinations and different embellishment ideas plus how to finish off the dominoes so that you can make something fun and decorative with them.
The stamp is Branch Flight from Stampendous.
