I have this thing… when my husband goes out of town I tear a room apart and re-do it. He went to Atlanta for two weeks recently and I redid our bedroom. In this post I’m sharing the wall treatment.
Anyway, I’ll start with the walls…They REALLY needed spruced up. It had been ten years since our room had been re-decorated. When we were dating he painted that room so it would look nice for my first visit. I remember talking to him on the phone while he painted. The walls were beige and the trim this “off” green color that I was never very fond of. It wasn’t awful but it wasn’t my favorite either.
So, I took our bedspread into Lowe’s and had them do a color match and painted the walls with flat paint that matched the bedspread.
Then I taped off stripes. 8 inches, 6 inches, 10 inches and then repeat. It took A LOT of time to tape all those darn stripes! Thank Goodness my oldest son was around to help. I’d still be doing it!
I painted the 8 and 10 inch spaces in the exact same color as the base coat but with a semi-gloss paint.
It’s a small room so I didn’t want to go crazy with color and pattern (how UNlike me) and I wanted it to be restful. I also painted all of the trim the same color. I like the way it turned out.

I love tone-on-tone patterns, but never thought to do it on a wall!
