I love a good creative challenge and I can’t say “NO” when someone asks for my help. Especially when it involves beads!
So when Carmi Cimicata asked several creative folks if we would create something for a blog hop she’s doing with Dazzle-It I said “YES”.
Within a few days a package of Hemp cord, findings and beads landed on my door step. I was immediately intrigued because these aren’t colors I would normally choose.
Let the challenge begin.
I decided to use the white hemp because the beads are so colorful and I cut 6 two yard lengths.
I put all six lengths of hemp over my neck and centered it.
Then I decided where the design would begin on each side (no beads on the back of the neck) and knotted all six strands with one knot.
Then I randomly added small black beads (from my stash) and the larger colored ones to the 6 strands of hemp on either side keeping them in place with a knot on either side.
Finally, when I had used up all of the larger round beads I knotted all of the strands together and put the peace symbol beads and more of the small black beads on the ends finishing off each strand with a knot.
I ended up creating the whole necklace while the cords were hanging around my neck. It was just easier to get the placement of the beads where I wanted them this way. Yes, it caused a few episodes of eye crossing but in the end it worked out very well.
I like the bright colored beads with the black and white. This is a necklace that I can wear with lots of my summer T-shirts.
Bring on the warm weather!!
