As has become the tradition in our house on Thanksgiving Day we made a visit to the Akron Holiday Tree Festival.
It’s a great way to walk off some of the Turkey and other goodies we’ve gobbled up and make room for dessert.
The tree and scene above was one of my favorites this year as it was all about yarn and crafting.
The whole tree is decked out with yarn. Each layer has a skirt.
I didn’t take quite as many photos this year as I left my camera at home. It kind of makes my family nuts when I stop every 5 feet to photograph a tree so I decided to just spend time with them in stead. But I’ll share a few of my favorite trees or ideas.
I love the bright colors of this tree full of sweet treats.
I love the simplicity and elegance of this tree. PLUS it has an extra special bit of genius to it.
Do you see the stripes that are heavier on ornaments? The designer decorated a pine garland and then wrapped the garland around/into the tree.
Here is a closer view. Pure genius!
I saw 3 or 4 trees with train tracks around the middle of them but this was my favorite. The rolled bandanna garland sold it for me.
There were several trees with a recycling theme but this was my favorite in that category. It’s layers and layers of folded paper.
I can’t even begin to imagine how long that took.
One of my favorite wreaths. It was just so MUCH and so sparkly.
This one was created by my friend Bonnie. She used my “sugared” fruit in it. I LOVE it!
There were a few trees with the tops bent over but I loved this Dr Seuss themed tree.
It’s especially funny with The Grinch’s behind sticking out of it.
And no trip to the tree festival is complete without a photo with Santa.
So even though I didn’t take my real camera and tried not to take too many photos I just couldn’t help myself.
If you are in the area, the festival runs until tomorrow. There were still several unsold trees and all of the money goes to Akron Children’s Hospital.
I hope that you’ll find something here to inspire your Christmas tree decorating… unless you are one of those people who have had it up since November 1st.
First you must live in Arkon Ohio, my hubby is from Talmadge Ohio and a graduate from Kent State. We will be there next year from high school reunion in July.
The trees are beautiful.
Just completed our Christmas decorations yesterday. I don’t think we will get any snow in Texas but you never know.
Thank you for sharing
Darlene
Hi Darlene,
I LIVE in Tallmadge and my youngest son goes to Kent. It’s a small world! 🙂
I keep telling myself that I need to take it easy today and rest up from last weeks’ crazy but all I can think about is getting my Christmas decorations up!
I remember when we lived in NM we got snow quite often. Just a scattering of it here and there on the grass now.
Have a super day!
Vicki
