Seems that those little lampshades that fit on smaller lamps and light fixtures are everywhere now… and some of them are pretty darn ugly.
Luckily, they are pretty easy to UN-uglify.
Here it is with all of the fabric off. They are easy to tear apart.
Then I spray painted it with an Ivory spray paint.
I found a roll of plastic beads and heated up my hot glue gun.
Starting at the base I glued the beads all around the bottom. Then I worked my way up the shade tacking the beads to the wire form here and there.
Then I put some silk flowers around the top and bottom wire rims.
I think a chandelier of these would be amazing. What about a bunch of black ones for Halloween? Or another color for a theme party?
What could you use instead of pearl beads and flowers? Any suggestions?
TIP: If you are worried about the heat from the lights and the hot glue you could use another kind of glue. I have been known to use a glue like Amazing Goop and hot glue. The hot glue will hold the beads in place until the Amazing Goop dries. I’ll warn ya though…it can be kind of smelly.
Why, Thank you Paula! 🙂 Will you be making some?
love it – so darling!!
