This is a post previously posted on Consumer Crafts. It’s a beautiful necklace… so I HAVE to share it! OH! And SURPRISE!! I have also been promoted to the Lead Project Designer there! Yahooo! 🙂
My Lucky Lariat, is a casual piece of jewelry perfect to wear with jeans. This Dressy Lariat with Swarovski Crystals can be worn with jeans as well but it can also be worn with a dressier outfit. The crystals give it a lot of sparkle.

Start out by cutting the chain to length. I made this lariat quite a bit shorter than the Lucky Lariat.
To figure out how long to make it fold the chain in half and put it around your neck (the loose ends will slip through the loop like with the Lucky Lariat). Decide how long you want it and then cut the chain.
This piece is a perfect way to practice making simple loops. (You’ll be making A LOT of them! ) If you don’t know how to make simple loops I have created a video for you! How to Make Simple Loops for Jewelry Making
Put a bead or a few beads on a head pin and make a simple loop. Repeat this many times over.
I find it makes assembling the necklace easier if I keep the different beads and colors separated.
Starting at one end of the chain , begin adding the simple loops. For approximately 3 inches on each end I put a simple loop in each link of the chain.
For the rest of the necklace I put a simple loop every 3-7 links.
I also made Chain and Crystal Earrings to go with this and you can see how to make those here – Chain and Crystal Earrings.
