If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you know that I went to the Country Living Fair this past weekend. Boy, do I have some posts for YOU this week! I had a super great time and came back home with lots of photos, ideas and inspiration. Not to mention a sunburn on my neck. OUCH! 🙂
This first post is full of photos I took of display or general decorating ideas. I posted a couple of weeks ago here of some ideas I had gotten at a show last fall.
I love the round “thing” (I call it a thing because I don’t know what it is) and how it’s used for display. This would be great in my studio to display finished smaller pieces or to hold paint and small odds and ends. You could also fill it with glass jars that have small bouquets of flowers in them. What about jars full of candy?
What else? What would you use it for?
Do you see the paper chain across the top of the tent? It’s made from old book pages. Great for decoration all year around. Hang some paper leaves, mittens or flowers from it and it’ll carry you through several seasons or holidays!
I have a big ol’ love of vintage birdcages. You can clip post cards and mini collages to them, fill them with a small display or vignette and change it out according to the season.
The good thing about bird cages if you are new to vignettes or displays at home is that it gives you boundries. You only have a small space to decorate in.
Here is an idea of what I mean. A small cage like this is great for a vignette and it doesn’t seem quite as overwhelming as having to create a display on a whole table top. You could change out the items in this according to season.
Heck, you could change it weekly if you wanted because it wouldn’t take that long to switch out.
Another nice thing about decorating a small area like this, as opposed to a large table top display, is that it’s easier on the budget!
I loved the aesthetic of this booth – even though it was so packed that I couldn’t get anywhere near it – I liked what I could see! 🙂
And low and behold I found that HOMEGIRL is also a blogger from Ohio.
This is a great idea. Remember the quilts I have from my great grandmother’s trunk (posted here)? If I had the heart I could cut one up and give my mom and sister a window with a piece of quilt in it. I think they might like that but I don’t know if I can do it. Could you?
