WTH Midlife?

WTH Midlife?

Everything about midlife is a question. What should I do now with my spare time? Where do I want to take my career? How do I get control of this midlife spread? Did my husband always make that annoying noise or do I only notice it now that it is so quiet around here? (HA!)

Here are some links and resources that I’ve found lately that might answer one of those questions. Maybe one of them will answer a question you didn’t even know you had. Check them out!

*As a life long free-lancer and entrepreneur this article made me chuckle. At least until I got to the part where she mentions crochet needles. That made me visibly wince. But it’s a good read.

“Messing around with a stand mixer or a sewing machine is fun for me because it’s not work. Personal pleasure is what makes a hobby a hobby.”

*Have you ever watched The Great British Bake Off? The illustrations blow me away. Every. Time. Here is the guy who draws them. Which goes to prove that just about any talent you have might be turned into a way to make money.

Just to throw a monkey wrench into things after you read the first article.

*This is a recent article I read about clothing sizes and the quote below sums up my attitude about what this 50-something is going to wear.  I don’t care what number is on the tag or who likes or dislikes it.

Buy and wear clothes that you like and that fit you the way you want, and realize that sizing — the way we’ve been doing it, anyway — ain’t nothing but a number.

Take that you beautiful, tiny waisted, 20-something!

* The beginning of the year seems to have several of my friends doing some purging and organizing. I went hard at it for most of the month of January myself after I came to the conclusion I wrote about in My Big Mistake. I figured it was time to get rid of things I was no longer interested in using before spring came and I was outside 24/7. If you are floundering around in the purge pool this article about where to start the purge might be helpful.
* Sometimes I think in the far, far future, the one with actual flying cars, my generation will be known as the Peanut Butter and Jelly generation. What with latch-key kids, the hyper pace of life, and easy to grab sliced bread, we grew up on PB&J. At least I did. These Peanut Butter and Jelly Thumbprint Cookies are purely here for memory’s sake. No life altering info, just PB&J.
*And if none of this brings you comfort, did you know there is an actual Question Mark Butterfly? I may have questions but this butterflies whole existence is a question mark. At least I have a few answers!
What questions do you have about midlife? Even if you aren’t here yet it’s coming. A lot faster than you think!! And you never know, someone else in the comments might just have your answer. Let’s get a conversation going!
